Weak-strong beam-beam simulations for the LHC A weak-strong simulation code similar to that written by Irwin for the SSC is used to study the amplitude growth induced by triplet field errors, head-on collisions and long-range beam-beam interactions in the LHC. We present the dependence of the simulated transverse diffusion rate on various parameters, such as starting amplitude, working point in tune diagram, crossing angle, triplet nonlinearities, and tune modulation.
