2.1 Broadband Impedance

 

The broadband impedance model I am using here is described in more detail in [3], and is taken exactly from there (including average -functions). Note that what I am calling ``broadband impedance,'' Ruggiero [3] describes under the categories of space charge impedance, broad-band resonators, low-frequency impedance, beam screen, and pumping slots. I am categorizing as broadband impedance anything which has roughly the same effect on every multibunch mode; a narrow-band impedance would affect the various multibunch modes differently. Finally, note that for the imaginary parts of quantities, Ruggiero's j is the negative of my i.

The total transverse broadband impedance weighted by the function is plotted in Fig. 1.
